Olivia Burton, 23, moves to California with her boyfriend, Francis Morales, 24, against the wishes of their family members. Francis’ mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who disapproves of her son’s cohabitation and reveals her feelings in the form of violent, religious-themed postcards. Despite these objections, the young lovers settle into their exciting new life together. However, their bliss is cut short when a freak accident leaves Francis physically and mentally scarred.
